Trick or Treat Gift Card Holders

More Halloween Treat ideas! In this post I made some gift card bags from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations Gift Card Bag die released earlier this year. It pairs well with so many dies to make festive Halloween treats for older kiddos or those who can't have candy.

On this Treat bag I decorated it with one of the words from the Halloween Shadow Script dies. I cut the shadow from a colorful inked background, then used the same Distress Oxides to splatter the black gift card bag. I added a few candy dies from last year's Mini Halloween Things, which is available again this year! 

For this bag I paired it with one of the new Halloween Hangout Dies and the new Alphanumeric Cutout Lower alpha.  Such a great bat die!

On this bag I used the Frankenstein's Monster from the Halloween Side Order, one of the Halloween Shadow Scripts, and s few pieces cut from the Foundry 3-D Texture Fade.

Trick or Treat Mini Bags

The new Treat Bag die from Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations is perfect for so many occasions, it is definitely a great die to have on hand. 
Here I have some samples of the treat bag with a few of the new Sizzix Alterations Halloween dies called Halloween Hangouts and the Halloween Sideorders.

For this first treatbag, I put the cat side order die on a Rosette, as I did on the lollipops in yesterday's post. Then attached it to the front of the treat bag.

The treat bag die comes with a mini alphabet as well, so I used it to cut a silly sentiment on the back of the back to go with the cat on the front.  I also added a black raffia handle to the bag for a little detail.

The #Booooooo bag uses the alpha again and one of the Halloween Hangout dies. The Hangouts cut out a Halloween shape in a window, but each shape is still attached at one point.

This is another Halloween Hangout. 

This Treat Bag die paired with stamps or dies makes for a very quick little gift for someone special.

Trick or Treat Lollipops

Lets talk treats for the next few days -- the Tim Holtz Halloween Side Order dies are the perfect size for super cute Halloween Treats!
I paired them here with the Rosette dies and attached them to some Halloween Lollipops for either festive party decor or delightfully spooky treats.

Super simple, but super cute!

Boo - Sizzix Alterations Frightening Faces

More Frightening Faces! How can you not just love this die set?

This is a super simple card showcasing many of the faces in this set. In the three cards I made using the faces dies, I tried to make sure that all of them were used.

Although simple and straight forward, I did try to add some fun Halloween color with Distress Oxide ink splatters and the boo die from the Halloween Sideorder die set cut out from the same colors.

From this picture you can see the colored splatters and the same colors on the boo die cuts.

One last thing, the faces aren't backed by white paper...they are backed by....

Glow in the Dark Shrink Plastic! (I admit it -- I was totally in to glow in the dark this Halloween Season!)

Great Pumpkin - Sizzix Alterations Frightening Faces

The Frightening Faces make me giggle. I love them! What a fun, versatile die set from Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations.

For this card I was inspired by It's a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.  I mean, how can you not be inspired by Charles Shultz right?

To make this card I pulled out an older die that is available again this year called Pumpkin Patch. It couldn't be more perfect right? I cut out the pumpkins and backed them with a darker orange paper.

Then I cut some of the Frightening Faces out of the pumpkins and backed the faces with yellow.

They are just so darn cute and funny!
The fence behind them was made by cutting several planks from one of my go-to dies, the Planks die, coloring them with various brown distress inks with a little Rusty Hinge and Peeled Paint thrown in here and there, and then running them through the 3-D Lumber Texture Fade.
The little bits of grass are from the Funky Florals 3.

The background began as a 5x7 piece of Distress Mixed Media Heavystock. I sprayed it with some Distress Resist Spray and then blended the sky with several colors of Distress Oxides.
I added some bats and the moon from the Haunted House die set.

I made these samples with the set and I just love it! It’s one of my favorite Stamptember sets ever!!

This card uses the Candy Cane stripe to make the background paper. I used Dusty Concord and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink.

For the focal piece, I stamped the succulent piece with Ground Espresso Archival Ink, then watercolored with Distress Markers.  The snow was made by putting Opaque Crackle Texture Paste through the Snow Drifts stencil onto Distress Watercolor Paper and then letting it dry and cutting it out.

The background is the music stamped in a repeat pattern in Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. I stamped the sentiment in Black Archival and Clear Embossing Ink then embossed it with Clear Embossing powder.

The colors of this card were difficult to photograph. I made the background plaid by working Iced Spruce and Crushed Olive Distress Ink through the Candy Cane Stripe stencil horizontally and vertically with a Distress Blending Brush. I colored the bird with both colors and a few others.

After stenciling I spritzed it with some water drops and then lightly stamped the music notes in places. The sentiment is stamped in Black Soot Archival Ink.

Here is a closeup of the bird stamp with the watercolor. It's a beautifully detailed stamp!

The woodland greenery spray is so lovely! I stamped it on Distress Mixed Media Heavystock on Ground Espresso Archival Ink and then watercolored it with Distress Markers.

The background was made the sameway as the one above but I used Vintage Photo and Iced Spruce this time through the Candy Cane Stripe Stencil.

I cut the focal stamp out with the Sizzix Alterations Stacked Postage Die and popped it up off the background.

The sentiment technique is my favorite this year. I will have a photo technique in a future post, but it's easy enough to accomplish if you follow these steps:

1. Stamp your sentiment in clear embossing ink and then emboss it with Ranger Ink White or Antique White Embossing Powder. Heat Set. 
2. Color the piece with any brown Distress Stain.
3. Ink the high portions of the Tim Holtz 3-D Lumber Texture Fade with Black or Ground Espresso Archival Ink
4. Lightly Mist the sentiment strip and run it through the Texture Fade 3 times for 3-D.
5. Remove, let dry, and cut to size.
6. Ink the edges in a darker brown before adhering.

Just one more look at this stamp. I love it.

If you are here you have probably already seen the live Facebook reveal and heard Tim explain that these Shifter Stencils are a different size than the Large and Small Shifter Stencils in the regular Stampers Anonymous Christmas Release.  I thought I would make a card showcasing all of them.

The focal point of the card, however, is this fantastic sentiment! I just love the combination of fonts and the bold size.

So yeah, I used all four stencils on one card. Hahahahaha! It was really fun and I think give the card a whimsical feel.  The top of the card has the Snow Drift stencil  and the top section is the Tree Shifter in Pine Needle and Candied Apple Distress Ink.
You can probably see a little shine on the card as well. Once it was assembled, I sprayed the whole card with Distress Resist Spray and then lightly sprinkled it with Distress Rock Candy Glitter.

The bottom of the card uses the Candy Cane Shifter and the Star Shifter.

Creepy — Sizzix Alterations Ghoulish

This Ghoulishly Creepy card (4.25x5.5 inches) is the third and final card I made using the Ghoulish die set with the same basic design.  The background was made using the Halloween Mixed Media set. For the title I used the new Alphanumeric Cutout Lowercase alpha. It is a great size for cards.

The Frankenstein monster die was colored with Distress Oxides and then covered with Distress Resist to make him stand out from the shiny background.

The frame is made by cutting the large Stacked Deckle die with one of the Stitched Rectangle dies inside.

The title is cut from the Drip Edge Die with the Alphanumeric Cutout Lower.

Trick or Treat - Sizzix Frightening Faces

Its no secret that I love a good cup of tea, and always enjoy a lovely afternoon tea time with family and friends. I particularly delight in seasonal themed afternoon teas and a spooky Halloween tea is right up my alley.

So with that in mind, it seemed only natural to pair the new Frightening Faces dies from Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations with the old Tea Time dies. Add the new Halloween Shadow Script and the old Feather and Raven set and you have the perfect invitation to a spooktacular tea time. 

Note: the Feather and Raven set is from last year's release but it is listed in this year's seasonal catalog, so if you didn't purchase it last year, request it at your LSS or favorite online retailer, they will be able to order it. (Also, if you click the link in this paragraph, there were several available from that retailer at the time I wrote this post.)

 Just a little insight into designing samples. When we are designing in early summer, we don't have the new Halloween paper to play with, so we either need to make it with stamps and inks, or use paper from stashes that are available year-round.

To make this card I pulled papers from the Dapper stash and then colored them using Distress Inks and Blending Tools as you see here. I'm really pleased with the outcome!

These Halloween Shadow Script words are wonderful!  You can layer them as I have here, or you can cut them together so the word is inlaid within the shadow.

The Feathers and Ravens set from last year make for a foreboding feel to the tea invitation. First, ravens symbolize death. Secondy, I placed the raven feathers so that they seemed like they were for stirring the tea instead of a little teaspoon.  Black feathers mean bad tidings. And last, to play off that, I used the Frightening Faces cat face on the tea cup where the raven is perched for a little twist since cats are the predators to birds.

I adore these Frightening Faces! You can use them in so many ways, but they are fabulous in these cups right?  So much fun.  This might be my favorite Halloween card this season.
I would recommend that you don't miss out on the Frightening Faces dies, because you really can use them year round to give faces to all sorts of things!

You might have noticed that there is a bit of a sheen to the words, cups, raven and feathers. That is because after I cut them out, I sprayed them all with Distress Resist Spray and let them dry. It gave them all a shiny textured finish that really makes them all stand out.

Ghastly - Sizzix Alterations Ghoulish

A ghastly card using the new Ghoulish dies set, new Halloween 2 Mixed Media dies, and the new Alphanumeric Cutout Lowercase, with a few tombstones from last year's Village Graveyard set that is still available this year. So if you missed it last year, keep your eyes out for this set or special order it from your LSS or favorite online retailer. They can order it from Sizzix.

I love this Halloween 2 Mixed Media die set. The rosettes are one of my favorite designs.
And don't you love how the Ghoulish skeleton is shuffling his way through the graveyard?  He's fantastic and reminds me of one of the skeletons wandering around an episode of Scooby Doo. The Ghoulish die set is a classic Halloween set and a must have for anyone doing any Halloween crafting.

I added a few tombstones from the Village Graveyard set, and one of the fun, cool things on this card is that the skeleton was cut from glow in the dark shrink plastic. I just didn't shrink it.

Isn't that spooktacular?  I LOVE IT!

As with the Spooky card I posted yesterday, the background paper is made with the Distress Oxide on Alcohol Ink Cardstock paper and the sentiment is cut with the new Alphanumeric Cutout Lowercase.  This is a great alpha size for cardmakers.
