3D Damask - Valentine Wall Decor

Tim Holtz's 3D Damask Texture Fade is another stunner! I really think it is beautiful and it reminds me of vintage tin ceiling tiles. So I tried to make a Valentine' Day Wall Hanging that kind of mimicked the look of some ceiling tiles.

This video is a quick tutorial on the technique I used to try to make this embossed paper look like a tin tile.

Here is the first panel

I used the Alphanumeric Shadow for the sentiment.

and the Lovestruck Colorize small heart in vraious Distress Inks

lastly I added a few leaves and one tiny rose from the Tiny Tattered Florals dies.

The second panel is much the same.

Faux tin base,

Alphanumeric Shadow
the large Lovestuck Colorize heart,
three of the Tiny Tattered Floral roses and leaves.

The roses are colored with Kitsch Flamingo
To finish this project I adhered the panels to some Little Sizzles Mat Board, then punched holes in each corner of both panels. I used my Crop a dile to set large eyelets in the holes, then I ran some hand-dyed crinkle ribbon (rayon seambinding) trhough the holes and tied a knot at the bottom on each side and a bow aroung the ribbon at the top.

Do What You Love - 3D Doily Embossing Folder

I'm telling you, the 3D Doily Embossing Folder from Tim Holtz and Sizzix is truly stunning! It looks like a lace overlay. And the beauty of this is that it can make a gorgeous card in just a few minutes.

I have a video tutorial for how I made this mini Framed Panel with the 3D Doily Embossing Folder.

To make this project I used a mini Framed Panel, Cafe Colorize, Falling Hearts, a stamped floral paper, White Heavystock. Distress Inks (or Oxides) in Tattered Rose and Victorian Velvet, a scrap piece colored with Aged Mahogany, and a die cut machine.

I cut the tea cup from Cafe out of some stamped tags I had from a previous project. Then cut the heart and details using Aged Mahogany paper. To make the background, you need to ink the flat portion of the embossing folder and then spritz it with water, then run White Heavystock and run it through a die cut machine. If the ink is only on the flat portion of the embossing folder, it will color the embossed areas and leave the raised areas white.

This is a fun, quick project to make and I hope you found the video to be helpful and informative. If you have any questions about this project that I didn't cover in the video, please contact me through the section in the column at the right. I'll do my best to answer it.

Have a crafty day!

Gladys and Her Chicks - Sizzix Ch 1 2022

What a wonderful Chapter 1 Sizzix release from Tim Holtz Sizzix today! I was compelled to use two of the newest releases in a make inspired by the Disney Pixar movie UP!

I though Gladys and the Papercut Chicks would make a perfect Kevin and her hatchlings. This was a really fun project to make and I love that I can use Gladys as a flamingo for my Disney Animal Kingdom Scrapbook pages or Travel Journals AND I can also use her as Kevin since a photo spot just opened up with her in Animal Kingdom as well. I love when I die has two uses!
I made a youtube tutorial of this project that explains most of the details, and there are still shots below for added help if you need it.
Begin with a Vignette Shrine and color some Woodgrain Cardstock with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide.
Cut the woodgrain into half inch strips and then starting at the bottom, adhere the strips overlapping each other. until the back and sides of the Vignette Shrine are covered.
Here you can see how the strips overlap the one below all the way up, then just trim off the sides.
I explain how to make the windows in the video, but use the Stacked Rectangle dies and Sticky Grid for simplicity.
I used the Stacked Rectangle dies for the door as well.
I colored all the pieces in this make with Distress Oxides and you can see the colors I used here.
I needed the little bit of the balloon highlight to shine so I used Perfect Pearls.
Just use a little of the Perfect Pearls powder in some water and brush it on the highlight pieces.
Cut two of the oval balloon pieces and one round balloon colored on each side.
On the back of the balloon, adhere some white wrapped floral wire using Collage Medium.

This will look like string but will keep the balloons upright.
Make a chimney using the tall building from the Paper Village 2 set. Then emboss it with the Mini 3d Brickwork folder. Cut the bottom of the building on a slant that will match the slant of the roof.
Trim the floral wires and I rolled them up and added a bunch of Collage Medium then let them dry overnight in the chimney.
Use a piece of grey/blue paper for the sky on the top inside of the shrine. then cut a bunch of Mountain Tops from various brown pieces of paper.

Adhere two solid Mountain Tops to the back of the shrine. Then adhere pieces of mountains to the front edge.

Once they are adhere, add some Grit Paste then color it with Distress Paints and Distress Crayons until you get the color you are happy with.
Cut some of the Funky Nature from various backgrounds you have on hand and adhere them on the inside and front edge of the vignette.
The Funky Nature bits just add color, interest and mimic Kevin's home.
How cute is that flower?
I colored Kevin and her chicks by just following pictures on the internet. It took me several times so don't get discouraged.
I left the eyelash pieces off so her eyes looked big like Kevins.
I colored all the pieces separately, then checked them before I adhered them together to make sure they would look right.
The Papercut Chicks are put together according to the package, I just changed them eyes. I used an old hole punch and punch three holes from white Heavystock. then the pupils are black cardstock ciut from the top layer of the grass die that comes with the chicks and it has some tiny circles in it that are perfect for pupils.

I hope you found this to be a fun and inspiring make that got you thinking of different ways you can use your dies.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a crafty day!
