I enjoyed making this little candy corn Trick or Treater and her little cat too!
I made a video tutorial as usual and included my first attempt, as I made a mistake and I hope my error helps keep others from doing the same....or maybe everyone else would have already figured out not to do what I did. LOL!
Here is a close up of the little candy corn spiders. They are in the Halloween Postage stamp setand the web is from the Spider Web Frame Stamp.
And a close-up of the candy corn trick or treater and her orange cat.
I did all of my coloring with Distress Watercolor Pencils. I'm having so much fun coloring with them.
The sentiment was stamped on a piece of scrap paper and is from the So Witchy stamp set.
Finish with some messy stitching and you are finished.

A note from Whimsy Stamps: (Oct. 1, 2022)
Fortunately, the Whimsy Stamps Boutique and Warehouse only sustained minimal damage as a result of Hurricane Ian. But it remains closed until all services are restored and we are able to safely operate. The online website will remain open and customers may continue to shop. Every order our customers place greatly helps to keep our business going and to support our employees and their families. We ask for your patience and understanding as order processing and shipping may be delayed. We are assessing on a day-to-day basis and will do our best to get fully back up and running as soon as possible. Thank you!

The moment I saw the Peeking Ghosts dies from Whimsy Stamps I just knew I
had to make them into a candy holder. So here is a quick treat card
using them to hold a candy bar for a fast, easy Halloween treat to give
to a friend, coworker or neighbor.
I made a short Youtube tutorial showing how to make this quick Peeking Ghosts Treat Card.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I truly appreciate your support.
Graveyard Vacancy is a card I made as part of the Whimsy Stamps
Halloweener Design Team 2022! I thought this graveyard scene from the
new Haunted Graveyard paper pack looked like something right out of a
Scooby Doo mystery. I could just imagine Scoob and the gang peeking out
from behind the tombstones and watching the cemetery grave digger
hauling off trucks full of bones and wondering what he is doing. Then
discovering he was trying to find the cache of stolen bank money he
buried 10 years ago....and he would have gotten away with it too if it
hadn't been for those meddling kids!
Here is a video tutorial walk through.
The title is cut three times from watercolor cardstock, two-toned woodgrain cardstock, and colored watercolor cardstock.
I cut apart some of the Scream Time stamps that I had colored and placed them around the cemetery.
I hope the video was a simple tutorial to follow. As always, if you have a question or need clarification on anything, please contact me through the contact link in the right hand column and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Graveyard Chills is a card I made as part of the Whimsy Stamps
Halloweener Design Team 2022! I had a great time taking a non
"Halloween" meadow die and turning it into a graveyard scene.
If you have followed me for long, you know that I am fascinated with
cemeteries, cemetery symbolism and don't find them scary since I see
them as a reminder to take care how to live to be prepared for the
inevitable end. So it should never be a surprise when I post a cemetery
make. I have a lot of them.
As usual, I filmed myself making this card, so I hope you enjoy the video tutorial.
The top of the card is Nevermore paper, the frame is from the Slimline Meadow die, the bats from the Build a Graveyard die, and the sentiment is from the Chills Word Die Set, all from Whimsy Stamps.
Moving down the card, I show the rest of the Slimline Meadow Die. It is Black Soot Idea-ology Cardstock that I colored with Distress Oxides and Distress Watercolor Pencils.
I added some skulls from the Build a Graveyard set onto the BaG tombstones and next to the tombstones. The gates and tombstones were aged with Distress Crypt Grit paste. Then when dry I rubbed some Distress Crayon in Peeled Paint, Rusty Hinge, and Ground Espresso onto them.
This is a great angle to be able to see the grit and texture added to the fences, tombstons and frame.
At the bottom of the card I have another set of gates and a large layered tombstone.
I was easy to tuck the tombstones under the different layers of the Slimline Meadow die.
I'm really so happy this card turned out as well as I had hoped it would. I hope you found something inspiring or interesting you could include in one of your makes.

The 2022 Halloween idea-ology release from Tim Holtz is fabulous! So
many great products that can be used year round so be sure to stock up!
Some of those are the beautiful layers and ephemera that are gorgeous
neutrals and florals. Two of those pieces, and a friend's vacation
photos inspired this piece.
This is a process video tutorial that shows how I made this piece and the inspiration and thought that went into it.
These Mausoleum Gables were made by covering the pointy top of the Vignette Shrine with chipboard and then building up the outside edges with thin strips of chipboard so that it mimics moulding.
The pointed top was inspired by a monument I saw in a picture my friend Kim took while visiting an old cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.
The center of the gable is decorated with the Halloween Remnant Rubs from this year. They are based on historic cemetery art and symbolism. For example, the urn represents the remains of the physical life, the laurel branches represent victory over death, and the weeping willow represents grief or mourning.
I picked this paper doll, who I named Hannah, because she looks like a young version of my three times great grandmother, Hannah who is buried in the Sierra Madre, California pioneer cemetery.
The winged skull is one of the earliest Puritan tombstone symbols. The skull, or death's head represented the brevity of life and surety of death, and the wings represent the sure hope of resurrection.
The roof is covered with a piece of backdrops paper with some Distress Crypt Grit Paste, Peeled Paint Distress Crayon, and some moss from the hobby store.
Both sides are very similar, only different in the way the vines are going across the brick.
I made the sconce by bending a spoon and hot gluing a drippy candle onto it as well as attaching a spider adornment on the handle area. I covered the metal pieces with Black Soot Distress Paint and let it dry a little before buffing off some of it here and there. Then added Crypt Paste and when it was dry I added some Rusty Hinge Distress Crayon so it looked a little rusty.
I make these urns every year in my graveyard pieces, It's kind of one of my signature Halloween things I do. Remove the cool twig handles from the Broomsticks. Wet the end of the broom and crinkle it up, scrunch it, and make the bristles stick out like a dead bush, I trim the bristles with my scissors so they arent all the same length and they are shorter or longer all over just like in nature,
The back side of the piece has this year's version of a mausoleum with two crypt spaces, Both have versions of the Puritan death's head symbolizing the brevity of life and the surety of death as a consequence of sin. The wings were a reminder to the living to be sure they were ready to face eternity.
In the top gable area there is again an urn to represent the remains of the physical body without the soul, and the flowers often adorned the graves of women.
The top head is reminiscent of the early style of death's heads in the 1600's and the one with more of a face are from the 1700's. While we are here, can we just take a moment to take in the beauty of that crypt paste?
I hope you found some of these tidbits about cemetery symbolism to be interesting. As I have said, I don't find it morbid or dark, but like the Puritans, I find it part of the reality of life and something that affects the way I live mine.
I am always thankful that you take the time to stop by my blog and support me and my art. So thank you!

Are you as excited as I am about the NEW Distress Watercolor Pencils
from Tim Holtz and Ranger Ink?. Oh my goodness!! I have been wanting
these for years!!! Dreams do come true!
There are no new techniques or anything in my video today, I just straight watercolored with them, which is pretty much the main thing I will always be using them for. I just wanted to join in the celebration today that we have watercolor pencils IN DISTRESS COLORS!!! Wahooo!!!!💙💚💛🧡💗💜
My video to day is a quick card using the Unraveled stamp released last
week from Tim and Stampers Anonymous, and colored with Distress
Watercolor Pencils.
I had fun making this card in the middle of the night (LOL!) and the watercolor pencils are wonderful. I love that I know what color it is going to be when I grab it. So good! Thank you Tim Holtz and Ranger for bringing us Distress Watercolor Pencils and making one of my wishes come true!
I hope you are all as excited as I am, and if not, please don't tell me, just be excited for me!
Have a colorful day!
