Pink Precious Kitten Tags

For my last two design team projects this month I made three tags using the Carta Bella Baby Mine Girl paper line and showcasing pictures of two of my cats as kittens.

For the first tag of Lady Jane, I used the pink bottle paper and one of the nursery rhyme cards from the paper line. I think she kind of looks like the kitten on the card.  I layered some of the stickers again.

The second tag of Mercy Otis also used the Trellis frameworks die. When you cut several out so you can have different paper patterns inside the trellis, you end up with plenty to work with.  I just love the feminine, quilted look with this paper line. 

The last tag features both kittens and a quilted background. Again I layered stickers and die cuts. 

To make the quilted tag or any other shape you want, cut or punch out 1" squares for all the patterned papers. Spritz them with water, crinkle them up and them flatten out again. (I punch larger squares for larger backgrounds)

The second step is to adhere the squares to a solid paper backing.  I usually use thin cardstock. The squares need to be adhered with an adhesive that is not sticky or tacky.  A glue stick works great.

 Once you are finished attaching all the papers to the backing paper, then I machine stitch over all the squares diagonally both ways. Yes, it is a bit time consuming but I love the end result. Once that was finished, I used my  Sizzix - Tim Holtz - Alterations Collection - Movers and Shapers Die - Tag and Tie die and then did a finishing stitch around the edge of the tag.

 I had seen these new Project Hangers by Cosmo Cricket hanging in Craft Envy and wanted to put them to use, so the hanger was the inspiration to make the tags in the first place. I think this would be adorable to hang in a baby girl's room.

 

Seeing as I still had tons of the quilted paper left over after I cut out the tag, I also cut out a piece using the Ornamental Movers and Shapers die and attached some of the stickers to make a very quick card.  Inside I put another sticker about love from the paper line.

Be a Finisher, not just a Starter - Part II

I am still working through this pile!

 I have four more finished and 13 to go!  As I said in the last post, many of these were either classes or class page kits and so I kept them simple and basic enough for 10 people to make at the same time, or for people to put together on their own with minimal instruction.
But again, they get the job done and memories are documented, which is my main goal.
This layout is based on Sketch Savvy Sketch #47  .  I turned it into a two-pager and used Cosmo Cricket Material Girl paper.   I think the colors are perfect for the very bright and colorful Winnie the Pooh ride in Disneyland's Critter Country.  The title is what Pooh is saying during his dream in the ride.

I dry embossed the manila tags for a little texture.
I sewed on the page with some fun variegated thread.  If you look closely you can see the change in color.

Of course, a Hidden Mickey!! 

This page is some very old K & Company.  I used my Tink and Friends cartridge to cut the Fawn title,  but it took so much work that I didn't have the fortitude to cut another one for Silvermist. LOL!  These pictures were taken on the first day that Pixie Hollow was open back in October of 2008.  I actually believe this was a soft opening day.  We waited in line ForEVer!  Fawn and Silvermist loved my pumpkin ears.

This two-pager uses K & Company paper too.  I guess I was on a K & Company thing back then.  I thought this paper went so well with a series of Matterhorn pictures that I took with a friend once.  It was fun wandering around the different sides of the mountain and trying to get pictures of it with the flowers and trees in front. 

The large footprint in the second photo is displaying a supposed footprint of the abominable snowman that was found on the south slope of the mountain in May of 1978.  They have one at the front of the mountain facing the central hub and one at the back of the mountain between the loading dock and the turkey leg stand.

The fonts I used for the title are Lifestyle Crafts (formerly known as QuicKutz) dies as are the fern leaves.

I added some Distress Stickles to the paper to add some interest and texture to the paper.  I love it!

You guessed it, more K & Company paper!  I added some corduroy covered brads from Bazzill in brown and red for some very simple embellishments.  I didn't want anything more for this layout. Title is again three different alpha dies from Lifestyle Crafts.

This layout documents my first day ever alone in the park.  Mr. Diva was working in Anaheim for a couple of days and I decided to join him.  We stayed across the street from Disneyland, so I decided to go into the parks by myself during the day and he would join me in the evenings.

This may be difficult for some of you to believe, but I actually had a severe case of characterphobia up to the this point.  I had only take ONE picture with a character, Tigger, and that was a sacrifice so my sister could have her picture with Eeyore.  Tigger was being a camera hog and I was there to distract him.  It was frightening.

I decided that this would be the day that I would overcome my fear of characters, so I headed straight for Toon Town.  I started with Pluto, and worked my way through to the big Mouse.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  After that I went over and went through the Princess Fantasy Faire line twice!  It was a very successful day and I indeed overcame my characterphobia.

Be a Finisher, not just a Starter

I have piles and piles of layouts that I have started and never finished.  Some of them are 4-5 years old. This is a small pile of some that are mostly finished and just need some titles or journaling or embellishments. I have determined that I am going to finish these 20 layouts this week.  It will be a small victory, but a victory none the less if I succeed.

Many of them were designed for classes and so they are fairly basic, but get the job done.  Memories are documented and that is the purpose, right?

This is a layout uses K & Company paper but it is so old I can't remember the name of it.  I thought it went well with my Mr. Toad's Wild Ride pictures.

I used a Martha Stewart punch for the zig zag edge.  The arrows are Maya Road I think.  No idea who made the cool, colorful ric rac.

I cut two map tags and painted them with Distress Paints.  I love that they are transparent.  I printed journaling about the ride onto cardstock and put my strip journaling on them.

I painted the arrows with Distress Crackle Paint and then inked them.

This one is Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety and some additional CC papers for the Mickey heads.  Toon Town was practically deserted one Christmas morning, so my DH and I took full advantage of it and got as many pictures as we could.  Stay tuned for lots more pics of a Toon Town Christmas.
This layout was based on Sketch #18 from Sketch Savvy.  I turned it into a two-pager.

 EK Success Stickers.  For the Ornaments at the top, I just covered the shiny EK ornament stickers with CC papers so they fit with the page.  The shiny glittery stuff just wasn't working.

I did the same thing on the tree.  I punched circles out of the CC paper, sanded the edges and then covered up the glitter ornaments on the tree so it fit.

 Some close ups. Title is the Toon Town font and another one I forgot the name of that I cut out on my Cricut using SCAL.

This is a really simple one.  I made this as a quick two pager from some MME paper I got on clearance.  There was enough to make half a dozen kits, so I went for it.

 These are pictures of a trip my mom, sister and I took with my cousin before she went off to college. This is the old entrance to DCA.  The Golden Gate Bridge is no longer there.

 I fussy cut the pattern out of the paper that is on both sides of the layout.

For the title letters I brushed some white Distress Paint over black cardstock so it would fit with the MME paper. Font is Diesel and shadow from QuicKutz.

I just inked, wet, and crinkled some leaves I cut from the Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves die.  It gave them great texture.  A very simple layout, but the pics didn't need anything elaborate.  It lets them shine.

Well, 3 of the 20 layouts are finished.  17 more to go!

Space Mountain

This is an old layout that I finally finished using Cosmo Cricket's Cogsmo paper, blackboard and die cut paper. I enjoyed working on this layout because the paper and chipboard shapes were so fun!

Not much to say about this one -- No techniques or anything.  Other than the Cogsmo stuff, the title is Lifestyle Crafts Zelda Grand, and the little Mickey heads are EK Success stickers, as is the little wrench.  It's from an old EK Success Disney set.

100% Pure Mickey Sugar Cubes

My last sample for the National Scrapbooking Weekend challenges at Disney Scrappers.  This challenge was to do a layout about Mickey-shaped food.  Yes, there are the obvious Mickey foods - ice creams, waffles, pancakes, etc.  But we just LOVE the little Mickey-shaped sugar cubes that sell at the coffee shop on Main Street and in the candy store in DCA and Marceleine's in Downtown Disney.  I like to hold them over the cup of tea and watch the tea seep into it slowly because once you drop them in, that's it.  The disappear and all you have left are a few little bubbles.

 This layout was based on Sketch #77 from Sketch Savvy.

 

 The paper was Early Bird from Cosmo Cricket and the Tiny Type letters and Ready Set Chipboard Letters were also Cosmo Cricket.

Here is a big close up of the sugar cubes.  It was so card to get a picture of white sugar cubes so that you could actually see some detail, so this is the best I could do.

Wild West

Two of the challenges on the Disney Scrappers Forum fit this layout -- the Disney Frontierland challenge and the one about the Disney Streetmosphere performers.  This layout showcases a fun group of cast members called the Laughing Stock Company.  They perform western themed sketches out in front of the Golden Horseshoe Saloon several times a day.

 

Sketch Support #26

For this layout I used Sketch #26 from the Sketch Support website.  I thought it was a good way to be able to use some of my Tim Holtz stamps and some old Cosmo Cricket Paper that I didn't want to completely cover up.

On the first page I added two stamped elements and some embellishments to compliment the photos.

The second page has the photos of our family with our friend Kevin who is one of the cast members in the Laughing Stock Company. 

 

For the title stamp I used Tim Holtz stamps and made my own multi-colored stamp pad. The metal in the corners is an iRock embellishment.  I embossed the cowboy with Walnut Stain Distress Embossing Powder and inked it with distress inks. The rope thing was made by making a mold with old jewelry parts and a button using Mold n Pour.  Then I melted Utee and Distress Embossing powder and poured the embellishment. FUN!!  The key is grungeboard cut from a Tim Holtz die and inked with Vintage Photo Distress Stain.

On the second page I added the other two grungeboard embellishments and then journaled on an October Afternoon journaling card. The Saloon stamp is also from the same Tim Holtz set and was also stamped and embossed with Walnut Stain Distress Embossing Powder.
