In part 2 of this Candy Box project we are going to focus on the piles of little presents on both sides of the box.
I bought three sizes of wooden cubes in the woodworking section at Hobby Lobby. The three sizes I purchased were 1.25, .75, and .5 inches.
Cut or punch some patterned paper in the same sizes as the cubes. You need six squares for each cube.
Adhere the paper to the sides of the cubes with Distress Collage Medium. Lightly sand the edges so there are no excess bits of paper hanging over the edges.
Once the entire cube is covered, cut a piece of Craft Thread long enough to tie around the cube like a ribbon on a present. Reserve two of the large presents with no ribbon.
Put a nice amount of Distress Collage Medium on one side of each large present without the ribbon.
Press the side of the present with the Collage Medium onto each side of the box near the back.
It should look like this. Keep holding them together until they stick there by themselves.
Here you can see how it is adhered right next to the box and tag.
Carefully start piling up the other presents with the ribbons on them. From this angle (above) you can see that some of the presents just have a
bow attached.
This allows them to sit flush against another box so that
there is a strong connection.
Glue them into place with a nice amount of Distress Collage Medium. Be patient and hold them in place until they are set.
You will need to let them dry for several hours or over night to be sure that they don't move or break apart.
Tomorrow will be the last post on this piece. We discuss coloring the baubles, trees, and putting it all together.
