Forgotten Garden Split Front Card

 

This is the sixth and last card I created for the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous 2024 stamp and stencil release.  Today's A2 card is a split front card in that the right 1" is secured in place and the left 3 1/4" panel opens. I used the Label Layering Stencil for the background, the Crochet Trims for the secured panel and Forgotten Garden for the focal point. I did add the sentiment at the very end from Curiosity Shop.

Here is a brief video tutorial for this card.

I went over an A2 piece of the rought side of Distress Watercolor Cardstock with a blending tool in Lost Shadow. Then stenciled the Labels Layering Stencil with Pumice Stone and Hickory Smoke Distress Inks to make my background paper look a little like cobblestone.

Then I sprinkled some water on it and let it dry.

I cut an A2 cardbase out of Black Kraftstock. Then I cut 1" off the right side of the front of the card and attached it to the inside of the card. This made the front flap of the card thinner at 3 1/4" and the secured 1" panel on the left I added a piece of 3/4" x 4" Watercolor cardstock, covered with Lost Shadow Distress Ink and then stamped in Pumice Stone with a Crochet Trim. I went around both front panels with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I stamped the lavender from Forgotten Garden onto some Distress Watercolor Cardstock in Ground Espresso Archival Ink. Then watercolored it with Distress Inks and fussy cut it out with scissors. However, I have the dies for Forgotten Garden on order from Simon Says Stamp because I have ideas and I don't love to fussy cut. Links for the dies are below.

I added three vintage pearl buttons that I bought in a lot off eBay.

And I stamped the sentiment from Curiosity Shop in the corner in black.

I do like how this turned out and I like that the front panel is narrower than the back of the card but the whole card is still A2 sized.

Miss You Wheel Stencil Card

Wow, we are already at the fifth card I made for the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous 2024 Release. Today's card is a slimline card, 3.5'x8.5" and I am using stamps and stencils in todays very quick tutorial.

Here is a very short video tutorial for this card.

I began by cutting a piece of Watercolor Cardstock into an slimline card size - 3.5" x 8.5 " then on the smooth side I just started stamping the Miss You sentiment from Abstract Florals all over the background in Hickory Smoke Archival. Don't worry if it isn;t perfect! Just stamp quickly in a line across the top or bottom of the card to get the first row straight and then do your best to eyeball it from there. I did staggere the words on each line so Miss and You were above and bbelow each other. This will go much faster than you think if you just do it and don't overthink it.

While you have the stamp out you might as well stamp one on a thin strip of Watercolor Cardstock in Black Soot Archival. trim the ends and put in on a thin black heavystock mat. Use a dimensional adhesive to pop it up.

Choose six sets of two Distress Inks in a color scheme you like. I chose blues, teals and aquas. I picked a light color and a darker color that were in the same family and then I began stenciling with one of the Mini Blending tools. I started with the lighter color and then blended it toward the center, getting darker as I went. Then I started again with the darker of the two and began in the center and worked my way out toward the lighter.

I trimed the card down by a 1/4 " and then finished it off with a straight stich around the card fron in black.

I had a lot of fun making this card and I'd love to make more in different colors with different sentiments but the same design.

Masculine Stenciled Birthday Card

For my fourth card for the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous 2024 Release, I decided to get out the stencils and put them to use. To my surprise, I ended up with a masculine birthday card and I love it. I used the Curiosity Shop stamps and the Feather Layering Stencil. 

Here is a brief video tutorial of my progress making this card. 

 

To begin, I stenciled the Feather Layering Stencil with the Mini Blending Tools and three different brown Distress Inks on Distress Mixed Media Heavystock. Then I covered the entire background with Antique Linen Distress Ink and a blending tool. I spritzed it with water and dried. Then did a simple straight stitch around the edge. 

I also cut an A2 card base from a piece of Idea-ology Black Kraftstock.

 

 The focal point is another piece of Mixed Media Heavystock framed in black kraftstock.  I stamped the two hats and the happy birthday sentiment in the paper stamp all from the Curiosity Shop set.They are stamped in Distress Archival Ink Ground Espresso then watercolored with Distress Inks

As you can see I distressed the Mixed Media Heavystock with Antique Linen Distress Spray and flicked some drops of Frayed Burlap onto it before I stamped on it. 

I watercolored the hats with brown Distress Ink and the bands with Forest Moss Distress Ink.

 I edged all pieces with Scorched Timber Distress Ink and finished it off with some thin black twine.

Forgotten Garden Gift Cards

This is the third set of cards I made for the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous 2024 Release. I thought these little cards would be perfect to add to a gift or a plant or something that you want to give to a friend or coworker. 

Here is a quick video tutorial.

First I made two A2 card bases out of Distress Kraft Heavystock and then cut them in half making 4 gift cards 2.75" x 4.25"

Then cut a piece of Distress White Heavystock or Watercolor Cardstock to be 2.5" x 4"

Lastly, using a Tonic Deckle Cutter, cut the card fronts out of Distress Watercolor Cardstock to be 2.25 " 3.75"

I stamped the Forgotten Garden Images in multiple colors of Archival ink and added the words Filed and Fig. 1-3 on each card front. The Filed and Fig stamps are from the Field Notes Stamp set.

Then I colored the images with Distress Inks and a waterbrush.

Lastly go around the card base with Walnut Ink, and the mat and card front in Old Paper, Add some flicks of dark brown with a waterbrush. 

Finally tie some ivory twine around the top of the gift card.

Love You Mini Slimline Card

 

 This is the second card I made for the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous 2024 stamps and stencils release. Today's card features the Crochet Trims (my favorite) and the Abstract Florals on a mini slimline card.

Here is a short video tutorial for making this card.

I began by making a mini slimline card base  3.5" x 6" from Distress White Heavystock. The cardfront is cut from Distress Watercolor paper and is 3.25" x 5.75".

The focal point was made by stamping the floral, then masking it and stamping leaves on both sides in Distress Archival Ink. Then watercoloring the images with Distress Ink.I fussy cut the image out after that and attached strips of chipboard to the back to pop it up off the card. Foam squares or foam tape would work as well.

If you didn't want to mask, you could get the Abstract Florals coordinating dies (linked below and exclusively from Simon Says Stamp) and then just layer the two leaves and the flower to make the bouquet.

Color the Watercolor Cardstock front with some Distress Antique Linen Spray Stain. Dry it and then stamp the Crochet Trims in  Distress Embossing Ink and emboss with Antique Linen Distress Embossing Glaze. I finished the front by doing a quick stitch around the outside of the card front.

The sentiment from Abstract Florals wash stamped in Distress Arhival Ground Espresso. It was popped up with two pieces of Chipboard underneath.

Lucky Day. - Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous 2024

 

This is the first of six cards I made for the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous 2024 Release. This card features the Curiosity Shop and Paint by Number stamp sets from this release. I know it is out of season but I was ill and didn't get to celebrate St Patrick's Day this year. So I am going to try and make St Patrick's Day cards all year to add to my stash to send out next year. But you don't have to limit yourself to St Patrick's Day for this card design. It can be for so many different seasons.

Here is a short tutorial showing how I made this card and giving you ideas for other cards for other seasons.

 

Here you can see that I matted the card front in gold and stitched around it in gold. The clovers were stamped in Rustic Wilderness Archival Ink onto the smooth side of Distress Watercolor Cardstock, and watercolored with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. I color blended some Shabby Shutters Distress Ink all over the background for a light green effect.

The Paint by Number letters were stamped in Pine Needles Green and embossed with Pine Needles Distress Embossing Glaze. I then fussy cut them out and attached them to metallic cardstock and cut out a send shadow by hand. I have the links to the dies from Simon Says Stamp below to make this step even easier.

I stamped the sentiment from Curiosity Shop onto a scrap of watercolor cardstock in Black Soot Archival Ink and then matted it with black kraft stock and gold kraftstock,

 

 And that's really all there was to this card. Remember, I made this St Patrick's Day, but you can use any shape stamp to make a background for any season - the hats and a 1 for New Years Day, a heart from Love notes and the 14 from Paint by Number, or a star and the 4 for 4th of July, or a bat, spider, or pumpkin and 31, or a tree, package, wreath or bauble and 25 for Christmas.  Don't let the topic of a card limit you. Take the design elements and let your imagination run from there!

Spring has Sprung! - Tim Holtz Sizzix Vault 2

 

 I saw some really darling spring nests on Pinterest made with vintage bed springs. So I got some of my own and got to work making this spring nest with the Tim Holtz Vault 2 dies. 

As with the last sample I posted, I was just recovered from being quite ill for the month before this deadline and so it was enough for me to just get the projects made and shipped. I didn't have the time or energy to make a tutorial. So I'll put some details here to help

 

To begin, the springs are rusty, and since I was working with paper, I went over the entire spring with a layer of Collage Medium. This sealed it and also made things stick to it a little easier.

The top is sitting on the doily from Boutique. It's difficult to see, but if you look through the wood shavings, you will see. I attached it with collage medium. Once it was dry I added some wood shavings to make a nest and then began to build from there.

 

 I stamped a sentiment on the banner piece from the Tiny Text CMS394 stamp set. 

The frames were cut from Woodgrain Cardstock. I colored it with dark brown ink, then added Opaque Crackle Paint, Broken China Distress Paint and Foundry Wax to add a guilded look. This is several layers and drying in betwen each application. Inside the frames I put some stamped and embossed papers I had in my stash.

The birds from Vault 1 Lovebirds dies were cut from Woodgrain Cardstock that I had colored with Distress Oxides sometime in the past. 

The frame behind the bird has part of the doily in it for some texture.

 For the 1.5" paper mache eggs I cut the scrolls from thin kraft paper and attached with Distress Collage Medium. Then I covered the eggs with Broken China Distress Paint and wiped it of so some of the brown showed through.

I arranged the eggs, bird and frames in the wood shaving nest and attached them with a hot glue gun. Then I began arranging the roses, leaves and scrolls from Boutique all around the eggs and frames.

The roses are actually quite fun and quick to make once you get a few practice flowers made. If you haven't made any roses yet, please watch Tim Holtz's Youtube Live for the Vault 2 release. He does a demo at the end to show the easiest way to assemble these roses. You don't want to miss it!

At the bottom of the spring I added more wood shavings, another frame, bird, rose, leaves and flourishes. I attached all of these with hot glue.

Well that's pretty much it. Again, I apologize for not having a proper tutorial for these makes. I'm happy to answer any questions I may not have addressed above.

Also, if you don't have any old bedsprings lying around. I am going to sell a few sets on my Etsy site of the bedsprings, woodgrain cardstock, wood shavings, eggs and some basic directions for making your own unique version of this. 

I'm also considering doing a series of these this year. I think that would be fun!
