Lovely Day Mini Book

I had so much product left over from my design team projects that I decided to put it to good use and make a mini book!
I usually put photos on my projects, but I didn't really have any that went with a lot of these without spending hours and hours looking through photos on my computer.  It's usually that way with me and mini books.  I love to make them but unless I have an idea ahead of time about photos, it takes me forever to get pictures put into them. But, I like to make them anyway, photos or not.

So here is a really cute mini book
that would hold some fun pictures.

Products used were:
My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill Paper
My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill Decorative Tape
My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill 3 x 4 Journaling Cards
My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill Decorative Brads
My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill Decorative Buttons
My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill Mixed Bag
My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill Chipboard Stickers
My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill Labels Stickers

Tim Holtz Alterations Die - Ornamental
Tim Holtz Alterations Die - Postage Stamp Frame
Tim Holtz Alterations Die - Arch Frame
Tim Holtz Alterations Die - Cameo Frame
We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper Ticket Stub

Zig Wink of Stella Brush Glitter Pen Marker - Clear

Directions:
I cut the pages out of black chipboard using the Tim Holtz dies, then I cut the papers with the same dies and adhered the paper to the chipboard.
The covers are just pieces of black chipboard and paper cut I think 5.5 x 6.5 and I cut the corners with the We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.
I punched holes in all of them with my Cropadile.
One of the die cuts, the Cameo Frame, has two rounded sides and made it difficult to punch holes, so I cut the rounded part off the side nearest to the binding.

I Mustache You A Question and Celebrate

More Design Team projects using My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill paper and embellishments.

When I saw some of the paper in this packet, I knew I had to scrap these photos of my friend's son getting his prom-posal.  The girl that asked him wrote on the outside of the gift bag, "I Mustache You a Question"

This layout is based on Sketch by Susan Stringfellow for Basic Grey.  But it fit so perfectly with the journaling cards in the pack I got.

The chipboard pieces and brad are all from the MME line of embellishments.  I cut the I from Tim Holtz Alterations Vintage Market alpha die.

The color flecks are using Ranger Distress Reinkers.  I put a drop on my Craft Mat, then dipped my water brush into the ink to water it down and then tapped the brush on my finger to get it to make the color flecks on the page.  The colors I used to match this line were Barn Door, Pine Needles, and Mustard Seed.

The word bubble is from the MME 12x12 chipboard set.  It said "What does the fox say?" on it.  I covered it with one of the journaling cards, cut around it and sanded the edges.  The ? is cut from an old Lifestyle Crafts (Quickutz) alpha called Blossom Grand. I cut 4 out of thin black chipboard and one out of a black journaling card so the black matched.  Glued all the layers together and then then attached it to the word bubble.
I thought the hashtag pieces from the die cut pack were perfect!

Another project I made using this same line of paper and embellishments was a quick card.

I used two of the MME Market Street Nob Hill washi tapes from this line of paper and then sewed around it with metallic thread.  I added some Hazel and Ruby gold sequins as well.  The Picture Wheel die cute is a Tim Holtz die.  I sprited the wheel and card with gold perfect pearls in water for some sparkle.  Then I put some sequins in each square of the wheel.  The center is more of the washi tape on white paper then die cut with the Tim Holtz Award Ribbon die.  The sticker is from the MME Market Street Nob Hill sticker sheet.
There are some stickers inside from the sticker sheet as well that say Celebrate the Day.

50

My parent's 50th Golden Anniversary is this fall so I thought I would do an early layout to start the celebration.  Why not celebrate a long time for this one?

I'm on the Design Team for my LSS, and my assignment this month was to work with My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill paper and embellishments. With all of the touches of gold, I felt it was perfect for a Golden Anniversary layout.

I used Sketch #114 from Sketch Savvy for this layout.

This gold doily in the die cut packet and gold leaves just needed a few gold sequins from Hazel and Ruby Handmade for an added touch along the side of the photo.

Designer Susan Stringfellow often sews over chipboard on her layouts.  I didn't believe that it would be so easy. So, I pulled this chipboard button from the chipboard pieces and "took a leap."  It worked!  I was actually surprised at how easily my machine sewed right through it.  I went at a medium speed and used the denim needle that I use for all my paper craft sewing.

Once I knew it worked, I adhered these gold elements and sewed right through them.
The larger round gold button was actually another color.  I adhered gold paper from one of the papers in the set and sanded the edges.

I made flowers with the papers.  Just punch some flower shapes out of cardstock, wet, crumple and layer.  I attached them all with a gold brad. Nothing fancy.

The title is cut from an old Lifestyle Crafts (Quickutz) alpha Blossom Grand. I cut 4 layers of thick black chipboard and one layer of black paper.  I adhered them all together to make a thick letter and then put Ranger's Glossy Accents on the top.

The Carthay

We had a big National Scrapbook Day Challenge week over at Disney Scrappers and one of the challenges was to do a page using a Sketch Savvy sketch for an enlarged photo.

I chose to scrap our Valentines Day celebration at Disneyland this year.

For paper and embellishments, I chose Basic Grey Lucille. I know, one of my pennants is all cattywampus in my photo.  I fixed it but am too lazy to re-photograph. LOL!

This is Sketch #120 from Sketch Savvy.   I rotated the left side and obviously made it into a two pager by keeping it right side up on the right side.  I often like to take Susan's one page sketches and stretch them into two pagers.  Just because the sketch is one page doesn't mean it won't easily make a nice two page layout.

For the left side I turned the sketch sideways. This allowed me to use the oversized picture of the Carthay Circle Restaurant which was vertical instead of horizontal.

For the right side I left the sketch pretty much as it was but instead of one long photo I used multiple photos across the main area.  For some reason I felt the need to fit all the Valentine photos on one layout instead of several.  Thus the reason I have so many on this layout.

And although not a Disney Legend,  a legend in her own right, Shirley Temple Black, child actress, presidential advisor, and US ambassador, had passed away that week.  So I took a few moments to honor her memory by have two Shirley Temples at dinner and taking my picture next to hers with Walt which hangs in the hallway of the Carthay Circle Restaurant.

Throughout the page I added little Mickey punches because although I know this is a Disney layout, it may not be obvious to a lot of people.

This actually came together fairly quickly once I figured out how I wanted to use the sketch and where I could fit all the photos.

Other than stretching a sketch into a two pager, there really aren't any techniques on this page.

Disneyland Egg-stravaganza

Disneyland hosted a week long Easter Egg Hunt called the Eggstravaganza.  You purchase a map and then search the listed locations around the park for hidden character eggs. When you locate the egg, you put the character egg sticker over the location where you found it.  It sounds more confusing than it is.  It's actually a lot of fun and fairly easy once you get started.

For this layout it is the second example for a Washi Tape challenge I hosted on the Disney Scrappers site.  For the challenge you were to use Washi Tape to either make a background for a layout or make a banner on a layout.  This is obviously the banner layout and I also made two flags with Washi Tape as well.

The chipboard Minnie head was from a set of Mickey stickers by Hallmark and I added the bow.  The flags were made with washi tape.  The flower and Minnie in the center were punched from the patterned paper.  I punched 4 Minnies out and then glued them together so it was thick like chipboard.  Then I covered it with Glossy Accents.
The pennant banners were all made from washi tape by My Mind's Eye and Hazel and Ruby Handmade.
These little word things from DIY shop by American Crafts made me laugh.  But seriously, we did say Got it!  A lot that day and we totally nailed it.  LOL!

Fill Er Up!

We host a week long challenge on Disney Scrappers for National Scrapbook Day.  It is fun to think up challenges and to get examples made for them.  I try to have the examples made ahead of time, but this is one challenge I didn't finish.  So I made two to try and make up for my tardiness.

The challenge was to use washi tape to make a background for a layout or to make a banner using washi tape. The Washi Tape I used it My Mind's Eye.

This is the background example.

The picture is from Goofy's Gas in Disneyland's Toon Town.  I used the Mickey and Friends Cricut Cartridge and cut out the station.  Sequins are Studio Calico and the Mickey is Hallmark.

It's a pretty wild looking layout, but it was fun to try and create something and see it evolve into a layout.
